Since June 8. 1941 t)iat is v.tiat i h.jve been doing It is over now for a while 'and glad. 7 jus can ‘ tell .tc'.i all £’_• . it. ’'ut the wors. thing about it is you are told to go some plaoe you have never even heard of oefore. le&s more ever seeing it. You don't know who is there to greet you, which in most cases is shooting, and that make you very uncomfortable. Now that I can see where I go at night it feels a bit funny ismile). Mother. 1 know you have read about how the Germans treated the prisoners, well, I know a lot of people think that that it is a joke, even I did my self until I went to see for myself. And again some how, 1 don’t want to believe my eyes. I have been to see about half of the camps here and there are how scarce the food is over her. Boy. I'm really glad yi*u all don't have to do that. Here is something funny. The most of the people here have not seen a colored man before. So he c Is what has happened. One will | come up or sigh up at fir.>u to' see if we will bark or bite them fsmilei then they fine out we don’t do either, they will take their fin ger and rub it on our hand or some place to see if the color will come off After it does n»)t come off. .they laugh and begin to l.rlk .ind laugh with you and ninetimes out of ten. they will go and get the best they hovt’' to give you. From then on they will do anything to have you come to their homes for dinner or to pailios just for yon. When you go they alwa.vs statid and cry. That is the way you find it all over Europe except for the city of Paris and som.e places in England. Be fore we came, they all tell us that they were told th.it the colored man was a wild man. But now they know better. But the things that tape it off is that wc always r.-ieet the girls and wher>. we do and they learn that we do not bite, they really go for what they call the Brown Yank or the Dark Man (smile'. .And be fore they will let you go, you just must promise them tho» after the war you will come back to th -rn and marry them, or lot them come to America where yo\ are. Of ccjiSv that goes for '.''e -ther -vl lows, because I don't play with them as you know ismilei. Anoth er thing is that -just a few people over here live like wo do at home. They travel almost all the time by horse and wagon, and bicycle. A vciy few of them travel by cars. C^olina Mutual Life Insurance Co. The Public is cordiallv invited to attend all these Exercises. I hope they come out good so you can see for yourself just just what these Birds are really doing to the people that they cap ture. I remember well what you use to tell me about when you do wrong the same thing will come back on you twice as bad and it is so true. If you would be in the bunch to just be coming over here you would almost cry when you looked at thesi* people. They are as hungry as ever a person can get. They don't have any thing to eat at all. You see the women and chil dren going about picking up some kind of grass or weeds to eat. They have only the black bread.
