Local kappas and AKA’s : can breathe a peaceful sigh of relief and know that they did a good job as hosts to their visiting brothers and sorors- There have been many comments to the effect that • one would have thought that some national body was holding forth, so thorough and elaborate was the plan* | ning And for many, it seemed like homecoming meet- 1 ing friends after such long absences in many cases. They were here from fur and i near and the public program:- of both the Kappas and the AKA'f w<re quite beneficial to those who attended. Among the public programs w;-- A joint public meeting sponsored I by both group: This was. held m I the Shaw University Church and | ' featured Mar Z.-tella Turner and 1 Or. Herman Canady as speakers j Presidents representing local chap* • Tets of other sonorities and fra- ! te'rnities extended greeting'- to the | visitors. Then there were three AKA sponsored workshops open to the public on Saturday in the Shaw University Administra tion Building, The American Council on Human Relations workshop featured Attorney Herman Taylor as director and W L, Greene, Can hneva.nr 1 and Beulah Whitby as consul taunts. The Family Relations workshop featured Dr. Union Johnuson as I director and Mr.-.. Henrietta Jc-f- : fries as consultant. Tin- Public - Relations workshop featured Mrs Lula Jones Garrett of the Afro American and Mr A. M Rivera of the. Pittsburgh Courier as co-dr- : rectors. Or*, bids to Mrs. S. V. Perry. Re cions! Chairman, to Mr.-.. V K Newell, Bssileus, and to Mrs E H. Perry, Program Chairman, for - such a successful! 20th Annual South Atlantic Re gional Conference One thing more I must men-' ♦ ion the Regional Conference ( gave the AKA sorors ah oppor tunity to show of? their new spring finery.
