They came at the invitation of VV. W. Warhtel. presi dent of Calvert Distillers Corporation, and oner there, on their own, they formed a ‘'Successful Men Club" to pro -1 mote interracial amity. Elected as president of the club was Albert Lindsey, production engineer, of East Orange, New b rsev. \\ Bev erly Carter well-known public relations expert of Phila delphia, Fa, was chosen a? secretary of the group. Members of the group include Georg Olden. CBS art director of New York: ilillvard Robinson architect of Washington. P. C ; Joel Rogers, historian of New York City; Regh-alii Matthews, lawyer of N<*w York. Archie Alexander engineer of Washing ton, D. In a talk, he observed that these Calvert ‘Sucres ful Men" were "symbols of the oppor tunity America afforded, increas ingly, to all if-- citizens." He said: "You are the America of the future where men of merit and ability achieve the best fruits of our free enterprise system." Mr. Robinson, speaking at. the dinner, said that, a good time could he had by all whenever men of good-will of any race or reli gion gather. Giro’s received the interracial party with open arms an did the fishing captains and golf pro who serviced the group. Agreed by all was the fact that this Calvert junket established a milestone in race relations and fond memories not soon to be erased. Those "Successful Men” unable to attend the Miami week-end will be invited by president Lindsey to join the club.
