She received a $350 scholarship to 1 cover expenses during the En- ' campment. The Encampment is sponsored I by many outstanding leaders and - agencies In the United States, j • Among them are Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dr. Mordecal Johnson, Dr. Charming H .Tobias, Hon. Frank P. Graham, and N. C. Council on Human Rights. Highlights of the Encampment will be discussins of the beginning, the structure, and the future of our nation. The field of social studies will be discussed as thor oughly as possible druing the six' weeks period the Encampment will last. Attending the Encamp ment will be 150 persons between the ages of 18 and 22, They will come from all walks of life and will represent the major races of the world. In 1958 there were two south erners who received scholarships. This year there are ten. Miss Edwards is the daughter j of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher J. Ed- j wards of Chestnut Street and a; rising sophomore at Barber-Scotia College where she is majoring in Social Studies. Activities included Bible Study, Memory Work, Music. Art and Craft, and free play.
