Ku Klux Klansmen as robed cow- i
avds who go about threatening peo
ple, a white theater owner here
Inst week declared he would
"shoot the robes off" any Klans
men who tried to "take over ' his
theater or interfered with his ac
tivities.
The warning was issued by
James Balkcoin. who said a
man approached him during
intermission time at the show
fast Tli .reday night, showed
him what BaUieoai believed
were Klan credentials, and
warned that the Klan would
visit the theater it he continues
to permit Negroes to sit in the
balcony.
A similar threat was made to a
white concession-stand operator
who was told by an unidentified
caller that "it would be a good
Idea’’ if he stopped working at the
theater,

“The Social Witness of the Local
Church in the Ecumenical Move
ment," taught, by Mrs. David D.
Jones.
In addition, there were work
shops in “Drama and Audo-Y
uals in the Church," conducted
by Mrs. Dorothy Jones of Reids
villc and “Parliamentary Pro
cedures and Responsibilities in die
Woman's Society of CmisUan
Service,” conducted by Mrs L.
M. Mayfield of High Point, and a
number of departments! clinics.

the fate of some 40 other relatives,
including several brothers. Such
