After a num ber of vigorous, opening sessions, Hampton Institute's hopeful young squad received the plaudits of the coaching staff who were “very pleased" with the early showings her of the varsity veterans and a group of promising freshmen. Following the initial week’s workouts, Coach Ben Whaley and his assistants are putting the Fight ing Pirates through the paces to develop their Split-T offensive strategy. The coach said the em phasis would be on a balanced at tack utilizing speed, deception and a variety of tactics. Passing will be integrated as one phase of this di versified offense.
