Attorney Consents To Baptist Group’s Suit To Unseat Nat'lPrexy WASHINGTON. D. C. The t utted States Attorney lor the District of Columbia today auth orized a suit in toe name of the United States by a group of 10 ministers, challenging the right of Reverend Joseph H. The action came in a petition to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The peti tion stated, in part, that Rev. Well, to get j ! your minds on the right track let ! | me tell you that it concerns the | j falcons. Yessss, Yessss. those Fal | cons are great men; now here is the word of the Faisons. This is the situation: On Friday evening a group of very determined young men left the St. Augustine’s Cam- j pus with one thing on their mind j and that was to beat old J. C. Smith Saturday when they took the field there was not doubt in j any one’s mind that we weren’t going to bring the Victory Home Weil that’s exactly what happened. Those Falcons took the game 32-0. We bated to do it but what ever will be, will he and that sure was. (Mercy) To get back on the campus Well, while the Falcons were at J C. j Smith “beating them up.’ St. Aug- > ustine’s gang was at home liv ing it up at the all college social i Albermarie AME Zion Conference To Convene; Rev, Medford Leads ELIZABETH CITY—The 47 th session of the Albemarle Confe rence, AME Zion Church, will con vene at Good Hope Church, near here Tuesday, with the Rt. Rev, H. T. Medford, Washington, D. C , pre siding, Rev. E. L. Burton, host pastor. The Conference Is composed of two presiding elder districts, Eliza beth City and Edenton, with Revs C. L. Newby and H. F Simon. Bishop Medford will be ten dered a banquet in recognition of 50 year* of service as a min- megardner n e state college Carolina in one big sweep we usually say, “from Manteo to Murphy.” I wonder, though if we give much thought to the many differences in soils, plants, weather and climate to be found between these two geographic ex tremes. Giving some thought to this, I have decided to prepare whieh w.<s held Saturday night And as usual everything was real gone. The music was nice and there was no lames, arid of course tins made everything very lovely. Meanwhile, last week the Alphi Phi Alphi Fraternity gave their annua! smoker for Freshman and new students From what I hear they really had a wonderful time, and I am sure they did because they always do as St Augustine’s. Speaking of dances, now if you wanted to see a dandy dance, you should have come over to St. Augustine’s College on the 23rd of November to the Annual Sadie llawkins Dance. The gang will be rooking and the crowd will go wild when the young ladies get the beati dancing partners. Yes, a tew young ladies danced with their j S. P. or their own beaus. Well, gang I’ll see you next week j with all the latest happenings a- j round old S, T A. Ister in the AM E. Zion Chur ch. He was born in the moun tain section of North Carolina and has not only made an envi able record as a churchman, but has been a very successful businessman. He began as a proprietor of a grocery store in his native county and has i made progress since • The Conference will close with i the reading of appointments on j Sunday, Very few pastoral changes are anticipated/ several columns in which we will; deal with the Coastal Plain, the j Piedomnt, the Sandhills and the! Mountains. It will help me re-] view my geography, and pther; phases of these great natural di - j visions, and in addition will, 11 hope, give you some facts that I will he of interest. This time we \ will deal ’with some facts of a! general nature, and in succeeding : columns, more specific informa- j lion about the different areas. North Carolina is a long state j East and West and comparatively | naiTOw North and South. It is ] approximately 550 miles long and ] will average about 100 miles in | width. It, extends from the surf \ of the Atlantic ocean to the high- j est peak East of the Rocky Moun- : tains Mount Mitchell. Due to this very complex topography we find great variations in climate and soil types and a. consequent wide range of plant, materials: bay. yaupon. venus fly trap, long leaf pine, hemlock, white pine and balsam. In fact, most of the I plants adapted t.o the temperate j zone may be grown somewhere within the borders of the state, i Many of the cool season truck crops, such as cabbage, lettuce and others can be grown during the winter in the eastern part of the state; but the winters are too cold In the mountains. Temperature and water have played important part 3in the history and habits of both man and plants This is true regard less of the soil types. What are some of the differences we find ! in North Carolina? The average ; annual rainfall will vary from i 44. inches to 80 inches. I J. C.
