A powerful urge to tell the story of a south ern white woman’s life-long love for herself and her Negro twin sister impelled Mrs. Jessie Ben nett Sams to print her 70,000 word autobiography by and, a ; task which took 4L years to com - i plete, according to an article in j the January issue of Ebony. The article tells how the love of Mrs. Rossie Lee of Ft. Myers, Florida, changed the two Negro giris. once filled with hate, into understanding and affeconlate children. Mrs. Sams’ book “White Moth-; er ’ tells how Mrs. Lee entered j their lives and helped to shape ; their future. Before their ‘adoption’’ by j Mrs, Lee, the twins stole, lied, and lived delinquent lives, while j i earing for their ill father. The story of how and why Mrs. Sams w rote her hook is told in Ebony, with pictures of Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Sams and her sister. Dr, Penn, led the devotion with the opening hymn, “Lord I hear of Showers of Blessing, Thou Art Scattering full and Free.” After the regular open ing, the pastor presented the pre siding elder, Dr. G. S. Gant who gave us some very helpful remarks, and then chose for his text Saint Matthew, 21st chapter, and the 10th verse. Subject, "Who is This ” Dr Gant laid stress on who do you say he is, and what do you think of him. and what does he mean to you 7 This was a wonderful sermon. Mrs. Mary W.
