This Man May Be You - - - Or Your Brother
Tliis week's “Love Lorn Prob
lem" is from a love-sic.k men. tnat
could well be you, your brother, or
yours truly.
Our friend, who signs his name'
as "Atlas", writes tlmt “You will
probably think I’m a nut, but 1
have a serious problem, end its
not funny to me. I need help.
“A year ago last August T mar
ried a girl I didn’t care much a
bout. I took her out a few times
end admit 1 didn’t use my head.
We both drank too much, which
was my downfall.
“When she told me she was in
a family way I didn’t know which
way to turn. She made up my
mind by threatening to take me to
court. So I did the gentlemanly
thing and married her. Eighteen
months have passed and there 1*
no sign of a baby.
“She keeps telling me her case ;
is very unusual and her doctor:
has never seen anything like it in
all of his years of medicine. She’s
gained fifteen pounds and has
been wearing maternity dresses
for over a year. What does this
sound like to you?’’ . . ,
For an answer our columnist.,
Ann Landers comes up with, “This
sounds wonderful, salesmanship
with no product Have a person
to-person visit with your wife's
doctor and learn if there’s a baby
on the way, NOW.
“If there is, you may rest assur
ed it’s not the same baby she was
talking about a year and a haif
ago. That child would be walking
by now. There is such a thing as
“false pregnancy.” This condition
is in the head. The victim of these
delusions often experiences the
physical symptoms of pregnancy
—such a.s added weight and mor
ning sickness. Youi wife’s doctor
can tell you a great deal more s
bout, your wife's condition than I
can. ”
