Unless Governor Or Court Intervenes, Man Will Die In Hot Seat For $1 95 Robbery; Stirs Up Big Controversy MONTGOMERY (ANP)— Unless the state Supreme court or the governor of Alabama intervenes, a s!i-yeor-old Negro will die in the electric chair for a $1.95 robbery. The farmhand is scheduled to die Sept. 5, but this date would be postponed if the case does not reach the court of appeals before then. The high court, which auto matically reviews every capital case is not expected to rule on the case that has "stirred up an in ternational controversy” until next week, Jimmy Walker, the Negro, was convicted for the robbery of Mrs. Estelle Barker at Mar ion, Ala., July 27, 1957, Under state law nighttime robbery of an inhabited dwelling Is pun ishable by death.
