Toombsboro, WiLKiNSOJ^ County, Ga., February 21, 1869. Brother L. I. Bodenlmmer :—You AvUl i:)lease accept my thanlcs and heartfelt gratitude for sending me your valuable paper, ■\vhich is a vrel- come messenger, with a feast ef good tlungo for all believers in Christ, as it is devoted to the defence of His glo' rious cause. I have been receiving it regularly ever since the first of Hcccmber, and am well pleased with it. It has been the will of an iVllwise Providence to lay His chastening rod upon mo since I saw you last. Heath has visited my family, and taken away mv oldest son. Indeed it was hard for the flesh to give him up ; yet 1 am made to say, with the Psalmist Havid : “1 know, 0 Lord, that thy juugmfents are right.; and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.” I hope that you Avilhremember me at a throne of grace. May God’s grace rest upon you and your dear family. MARY A. FORD. THE MAYO ASSOCIATION will convene with the Church at Ridings’ Meeting House, Forsythe County, N. Departed this life, near Clinton, Jones conn ty, Georgia, January 2,3d, 1809, my dear wife, MARY PATTERSON, in the 62nd year of her age. A few (lays before her departure she was laUou sick; seemed to get better, and express eel a desire to go to her meeting, remarking that she wished to go as long as .she lived. Went, couTplaiued some after her return ; the next morning seemed much improved ; but bc- lorc niglit siio grew worse, and gradually de clined until lier death. Seeirtg liiat death was near, I asked her, on Thursday night, if she had any fears about death; she said, “None, as she had a hope be yond the grave.” Friday night, without a struggle or groan, or the least movement of anf kind, she fell asleep in Jesus. Blio had been a tailhful, consistentmemberof the Old School Baptist Cliurch for more than fill years ; the cause of God and truth was al ways precious to her. We had been married for more than 41 years, and in all that time, 1 can truly say, she never uttered an unkind nor angry word to me. As mother, neighbor and Irieud she had few equals, no superiors, as all who knew' her will admit. Her life and cbaracr tei' Svas nn.spotted and irreproachable. Truly a good woman, a mothei' in Israel, hits fallen, i'am no .. old and well stricken in years, and badly ciipph'.d. Her lose to her children, the neighborhood and church is great; to me, it is irreparable But W'ords can never express her worth 'Ihc large and solemn concourse of friends ami acquaintances who attended as mouruer.s at her burial, spe.ak her praise, rever- •euce her memory. 1 hope to liave the prayers of my brethren and sisters, that I may be sustained under this trying dispensation of Providence, that I may be prej.arcd by grace to meet my dear, loving compatiion above, where sickuv.ss and sorrow, pain and de.'ith, are felt and feared no more.
