At times her pains seemed to be almost unendurable, yet she bore it w-ith great fortitude. She had cherished a hope for several years, but never united with the church until about a year ago. She joined the Primitive Baptists at Jjickfork, together with lier lui.sband, and was baptized by Brother McNeely. She h,as left a husband who will mourn her loss more than pen can describe. “The walks they have roamed w-ithout tiring. The songs that together they’ve sung, The jest to whose merry inspiring Their mingling of laughter has rung ; Oil trifles like these become precious. She possessed the highest quality' of avhicli the human mind is sensible. The power to call smiles upon the face of misery. No hu.s- band has ever lost a bettei wife; and few children have ever lost such a mother. She was one to be sought in 'distress either in body or mind : in fact she avas a spotle.ss avo- man, gentle, and always attempting to imitate her Saviour, in uniting infense .sensibility to sin along with tenderest compassion for the offender, showing in this that “He knoaveth our frames.” Hoav gentle she avas to her children, fearing she avould crush a tender heart. She considered the disposition of those she disciplined. May her six amiable daughters seek to imitate those ;;oble virtues. She ever )iilngled gentleness with rebuke, could bear aviih the intirimties of others, making allow ances for constitutional frailties. Never said harsh things, as she kneav kind avord.s did so much better. She never avas known to lacer ate the feelings of her friends and associates by recallii;g forme;- delinc|;ie;;cies. It avas the writer’s pleasure to be avith tl;e deceased a great deal, and he ever appreciated her as a noble wife, ;nothe;-, a;;d neighbor, B;;t she is go;ie to “that boui-ne f;-o;n avhence ;io t;-aveler returneth.” She has laid hera;-mor by, her .siifterings are over. It was through great ti'ibaiatio;;s that she ava.slied her robes and ;nade tho;u avhite in the blood of the larl;b. Her ea;-thly tabernacle is being dissolved to be re.surrecetd aadth that blessed spirit avliich is noas' with Jesus for “Blessed ;;;;d holy ;,re they that Jiare part in tlie resurreeiio;; ; on wldch the second death hath ;;o powci-,but they shall be priests of God a;id of Christ a;;d shall reig;i with Him.” These noble qualities have e;;deared her to the hearts of ;;11 who knew l;er, for .she was true hearted, a friend to the poor, not ambitious, “u;;used to fawning or seeking for power By doctri;;os fashioned to the varying hour.” Khe has left seven cl;ildren and a li;;sband to follow her exa;;;ple. May the Lo;-d pre pare the;n to do so- Her husba;;d should feel that this is but one more tie cut loose that bound hi;u to earth a;;d a;;othei- cord to draw him upward a;id onward. For “we have no co;;ti;;uing city here.” This should alleviate his sorrow to tl;i;ik he too will soon join her i;i that celestial land where bliss is eternal.
