He is kind and indulgent and yet firm and decided. He never hurries any body and yet he does more than twice as much business, in a day, as maliy of our Judges. He seems to know, almost as by intuit ion, just when to grant mercy, when to enforce just ice I to the letter of the law. He is truly a learned Judge. He is a general favorite with the bar, the officers and the citizens of every county in which he holds court. He is a strong argument against the old notion that has pre vailed in X. C. that a man is not eapable.of being a Judge until he is so old as to b?i unfit for any thing else The best Judges we have to day in N. C. are young men. ACard! Sands, N. 0. Aug. 28. 88.
