DRUNKEN DRIVING CONVICTIONS IN N. C. INCREASE Raleigh. May 5 ? Convictions last month on charges of drunken driv ing were nearly double the number of the month last war. A report release "today by Com missioner of Motor Vehicles T. B. Ward shows that 488 persons were convicted of this charge last month, as compared with 285 convictions during April of last year. Convic tions on this charge ' thus far this year total 1,808. I MARY MAE BROWN Mary Mae Brown was born in Surry county. March. 16. 1865. She died April 29. 1946, age 81 years, 1 month and 13 days. She was mar ried to George Wesley Brown, of Trade, Tenn., June 5, 1884. To this union were born eight children, three of whom preceded her in death: Charlie R. Brown, Myrtle and Frances Brown; also her hus band preceded her in death. The surviving children are: H. C. Brown and Minnie Brown, of Trade, Tenn.; General Brown and Mrs. Lillie South of Zionville, and Emrrvptt Brown of Boone. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
