COVE CREEK I HI SCHOOL NEWS 1 In. Wilson's 8-B section gave ? very interesting chapel pro gram on last Wednesday morn ing. The progr.un consisted of a one-act comedy with the follow ing pupils composing the cast: Grady Gravely, Patsy Ann Swift, Johnny Horton, Bobbie Greer, Frances Davis, Linda Townsend, Geneva Pennell and Jimmy Oliver. Rev. Harold Songer of Eliza beth ton, Term, has accepted the pastorate of the Cove Creek Bap tist church. Eev. and Mrs. Songer are moving into the pastor's home the first of this week. Lottie Stout, popular member of the tenth grade has under gone an operation for appendici tis but is now very much im proved. I ) The Cove Creek basketball teams continued their winning streak last week by losing only one girls' game out of a total of six games played. On Tuesday night on the hon<e court both the A and B boys defeated Mountain City. The girls lost to Cranberry on Wednesday night in a close game with a score of 29 to 2ft while the boys won easily wilh a 46-23 count. On Friday again on the home court both boys and girls were able to win with second string teams playing against Crossnore. Games this week will be with Lees-McRae on Monday night and with Appalachian on Friday Inight. Return games with Moun tain City wfll be played in Mountain City on Tuesday night Plans for the high school an nual, T Tie Coveteer, are complete. The work, including the making of the pictures and the securing of the advertisements, has been done. Approximately 200 an nuals will be printed. Word has just been received that Pat Mast has_ been accepted for further interview in regard to receiving the Angier Duke Reg ional Scholarship of Duke Uni versity. Rutherwood School New? Our school has raised $17.52 for the March of Dimes. Some of the children gave as much as fifty cents. A second grade boy, Nonman Michael, gave $3.00. We want to thank the Lions club for the "Moral Code for Youth" which was presented by Mr. Agle and Mr. Wey when they visited us. ? We are very happy to have running water in our school now for the first time. Each class room has a lavatory and foun tain. The lunchroom has hot and cold water. We are indeed proud of the lunchroom and every stu dent but five eat regular. We en joy our hot lunches prepared by Mrs Clyde Bodenheimer.
