Tail twister 8 Conduct Lions Club Program The Boone Lions Club met last Tuesday in the Daniel Boone Ho tel dining room, with former and present tailtwisters having charge of the program. Several stunts were "pulled" on various mem bers of the club, for the amuse ment of the others. Sale of Centennial season tic kets was discussed by Lion Presi Bob Agle, with members being reminded that the tickets would soon be withdrawn from sale at the special reduced rate offered by Centennial officials. At the director's meeting, which followed, a committee was ap pointed to select the Lions pio neer candidate for the Centen I nial festival They subsequently selected L M. Moretz, former mayor of Boone and now a justice of the peace with office in Boone. Miss Barbara Jones is the club's candidate for queen. She was selected as the Lions Sweetheart at a recent talent show. It was also voted at the direc tor's meeting to donate $500 to the Watauga Hospital, Incorpor ated, in their present drive for funds to improve the local insti tution. WACS The Woman's Army Corps cel ebrated its seventh birthday on May 14. The Wacs are now a permanent part of the peace-time Army.
