HODGES O Miss Coston, Mr. Hodges "Exchange Wedding Vows In Edneyville Church Miss Mary Kathleen Coston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Coston of Hendersonville, be came the bride of Robert Dough ton Hodges, son of Mr. and Mrs. Finley Patterson Hodges of Boone, Saturday, September 19, at 4:30 o'clock in the Edneyville Metho dist Church. The Rev. Robert W. Richard son, pastor, performed the dou ble ring ceremony. A program of wedding music was presented by Miss Kate Dotson, former music teacher of the bride and Mr. Clyde Jackson, soloist. Robert Marlowe, young nephew, of the bride, lighted the lower candel abra. 1 The church was decorated with sunburst arrangements of white gladioli against a background of jewel foliage interspersed with seven branched candelabra. A satin covered kneeling bench was used. The bride was given in marri age by ^ier father.- She wore a gown of candlelight satin fashion ed with a single diamond-cut pat tern inlaid with illusion extend ing down the long, tapering sleeves and outlining the round ed decolletage. The moulded bo dice, diamonded with^ry stals. ac cented the bouffant satin skirt, which fell into a sweeping train. He!- floorQgngth veil was a can dlelight circlet embroidered with Rosepoint lace and caught %t the , fides with clusters of orange bios- ^ soms. She carried a cascade bou quet of white tube roses and il 3 lusion centered with a wKite or chid. ?The bride wore a tiny gold brooch centered with pearls, ' which was given to her mother bv her father on thefr wedding dnv v Mr*. Miss Martha Ann Nes bitt of Oak Ridge. Twin., and Mrs. Burkett Younce of Boone, sister of the groom. The attendants wore identical waltz-length dresses of amethyst irridescent taffeta stvled with push-un sleeves and full flowing skirts which accented the jeweled buttoned bodice*. Their hetfl dresses were encrusted with for get-me-nots in graduated ame thyst shades dazzled with rhine stones. They carried bououets of deeo purple and amethyst Cali fornia asters. Charles Hodges, of Boone, serv ed as his brother's best man. Ushers were Burkett Younee of Boone and Howard Wilfong of 3 Charlotte, brothers-in law of the groom, Beniamin G. Marlowe. Jr.. of Hendersonville. brother-in-law ?of the bride, and James Dotson of Boone. Mrs. Coston choae for her daughter's wedding a Wedgwood blue silk shantung dress with seed pearls and rhinestone detail, with matching arres*ories and. an orchid corsage. Due to illness, the bridegroom's mother was unable to attend. Hla grandmoher, Mrs. C. O. Hodges of Boone, chose a navy ei Amble and wore an or chid corsage. On Friday night following the rehearsal, member* of the wed dinf party wen entertained at the home of the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ben jamin G. Marlowe, Jr. Immediately following the cer emony the bride's parents enter tained at a reception at their home for members of the families and out-of-town guests. Assist ing in serving were Mrs. Walter B. Justus, Mrs.0W. J. Nesbitt, Mrs. Ronald Moss, Mrs. B. F. Jus tus, Mrs. Luther Merrell, Mrs. Robert Richardson, and Mrs. B. B. Seymour attended at the Bride's Book. After the reception the couple left for a wedding trip through Maryland and to Washington, D. C. For traveling the bride wore a harvest brown wool flannel suit with toast accessories and the orchid from her bouquet. Mrs. Hodges was graduated from Edneyville High School and Mars Hill College. She received her 8. S. degree In home eco nomics from Woman's College, of the University of North Carolina. Since her graduation she has been employed as assistant home dem onstration agent in Watauga County. ? The bridegroom was graduated from Appalachian High School and attended Appalachian State Teachers College, Boone. He served three years with the U. R. Army and -is now a senior in the department of animal hus bandry at H, p. State College, Raleigh. Local Affairs ? Mrs. R. W. McGuire and?chil dren. Phil and Ala Sue, spent Sunday in Marion. AND MRS WILLIAM TRIVETTE o Miss Peggy Ann Brown, Mr. Trivett Married In Howard's Creek Church Miss Peggy Ann Brown, young est dOighter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Brown, BoOne, be came the^bride of Mr. William Walter Trivett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gecgge Trivett of Lenoir, in a beautiful candle light ceremony fct the Howards Creek Baptist Church, September 13, at four o' clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Victor Trivett, uncle of the groom, performed the dou ble-ring ceremony before a back ground of mountain greenery, bas kets- of wflite gladilous and tall seven branched candelabra hold ing cathedral tapers flanked the altar. The family pews were marked with white minature wed cfing rings. , Prior to the ceremony a pro gram of Wedding music was pre sented by Miss Ann Cottrell, pi anist. and Miss Betty Jean Cal loway, vocalist. Miss Calloway sang "Because" by D Hardelot and for the benediction she sang the "Lord's Prayer" by Mallotte. The bride entered the church with her brother, Mr. Ernest D. Brown, who gave her in mar riage. She wore a white flocked organdy waltz langth gown with sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice and the Jong fitted sleeves ended in calla lily points over the hands. Her finger tip veil of nylon net was attached to a crown of pale pink forget-me-nots and net. She carried an arm bouquet of pale pink rose buds and artistic plums of the same shade with long satin streamers. Miss Rita Lee Noiris, close friend of the bride, was maid of honor and only attendant. She wore a mint green organdy dress having a full bouffant skirt with a fitted bodice, tiny puffed sleeves and deep portrait neck line. Her headdress was of pink forget-me-nots and net. She car ried a wedding ring bouquet of pink asters, tiny white mums and long pink satin streamers. She wee pink linen shoes. Mr. Edward Swift served hit cousin as best man and ushers were Jack E. Edmisten, brother in law of the bride, and Mr. James J. Miller of Todd, close friend of the (room. The groom's mother wore a two'piece suit of navy and white with navy accessories and * cor Jt tag* of red row*. Immediately following the cer emony a reception was held at the home of the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Edmi?ten in PerkinsviUe. Ap proximately fifty guests attend ed. The table was covered with a luce cloth, the main attraction being the three-tiered wedding cuke topped with a minature bride and groom. Mrs. Clint Ward served the cake while Mrs. Arthur Boyce, sister of the bride, poured , punch. Immediately following the re ception the young couple left for a short trip through western North Carolina. Tor traveling the bride wore a shoulder blue Hand macher suit with maple brown ac cessaries and the pale pink rose bud corsage that was lifted from her arm bouquet. Mrs. Trivett is a graduate of Appalachian High School, class of '52. and Mr. Trivett is a graduate of Elkland High School at Todd, class of *92. He is now serving in the U. S. Navy, being stationed at Pensacola, Fla. Out-of-town guests attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. (Arthur Boyce, Miss Wanetta Boyce, Bellville, Ohio, Mr. Harold Brown, Fredripktown, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Swift, In diana. Engaged ? Brown of Boone celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Thursday afternoon, September 17, at an informal tea at their home on Appalachian Street. Members of the family and close friends at tended. Married in Heaton, N. C. SO years ago, September 17, 1903, Mr. and Mrs. Brown have lived in this section of the country since then. They have lived in Boone for twenty-four years. Mr. Brown has served as campus policeman for Appalachian! State Jeachers College for ten years. They have four children: Ver non Brown, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Bell H. Winters, Elk Park; Mrs. Vilas J. Moretz,. Boone ; Mrs. R. C. Mabry of Concord. They have nine grandchildren and two great, grandchildren. Miss Stroup To Wed Mr. Wilson Cherryville ?
