Mr. and Mrs. George Robbins and twin daughters, Mary and Marion, of Petersburg, Va., were week-end visitors with Mr. Rob bins' mother, Mrs. Ed Robbins and his sister, Mrs. Mary Herring. Mr. Robbins will be remembered here as former manager and vice president of Northwest Utilities, Inc., an office he held here for many years before transferring to Virginia. Northwest Utilities in Virginia later merged with Vir ginia Electric Power Co. with headquatrers in Petersburg and Mr. Robbins was assistant super intendent there the past three years. Recently he was made superintendent of this company which necessitates his traveling over many states. Mr. Robbins has been in Virginia some 13 years. Mr. ' and Mrs Robbins have a son. Tommy, in the Air j ?Force in Illinois. ? 1 Woman's Club Holds Session ? The October meeting of the Boone Worthwhile Woman's club was held in the Presbyterian Church on th? evening of Oc tober 22. A long exhibit table was graced with red, white and blue floral arrangements and flags, and flanked with a large standing flag and with posters on lAmerkanism. It held pafchment replicas of the Declaration of In dependence and the Constitution and photographs of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, obtained for the occasion by Mrs. Arnold Van Pelt. Mrs. Lee Reynolds defined Americanism as a "greater appre ciation 0f an American way of life," which is being challenged today. General Federation of Woman's Club emphasis this year ii'upon strengthening our religious foundation, and upon exercising citizen responsibility both to vote and to ourselves take office. She led the group reading of "The American's Creed." The group then sang 'The Star Spangled Banner." Mrs. Clyde Winebarger sang "I Pledge Allegiance." Mrs. Winebarger told of the Ceneral Federation Project to re store Independence Hall. School children nation wide are invited to an essay contest on "What America Means To Me," and to contribute each a penny a week toward the restoration. Mrs. John Horton opened the business meeting with a reading "On Rearing A Gentleman." It was voted to enter a speller in the annual Spelling Bee for benefit <#T Boone Band. Mrs. A. E. South reported on the Youth Committee that there have been 45 Windows offered by merchants for Hallowe'en decora tions. Mrs. Reynolds reported for the Welfare Committee an enthu siastic opening of the Teen Age Canteen, and the club pledged support. Mrs. R W. Mrs. Kate Reese gave a report of a county council meet ing at Boone. The subject of building a coun ty health center was discussed and the members voted to give a donation.
