Director lion E. Douglas of the Department of Conservation and Development says the volume of "thank you" notes received from travellers is increasing. He re leased th^ following letter, from Mis. F. M. Tench, Jr., of Oak Ridge, Tenn.. as typical of let ters being received by the State Advertising Division, which has charge of tourist promotion: "We had the pleasure of driv ing practically the full width ? West to East of your State over the 4th of July week end. We spent the weekend lamping at Cape Hatteras National Seashore Area. Our impressions of North Caro lina are nothing but the best and we felt we should pass the word along. Your roadside tables were num erous and always well kept. We had occasion to stop at a roadside park n?*ar Statesville and were equally impressed by its facili ties and cleanliness. You surely must hsv* your native residents 1 well trained and impressed by their resources in order to keep t them in such good conditions. 1 We were amazed at yom- good t highway system and theTeneral < feeling of well-being throughout I the State. Everything looked ] prosperous. i ' We plan to again return to . North Carolina and take advant age of your parks and those of the National Park Service, and hope we shall continue to be so impressed."
