News of Servicemen pvt. GEORGE T. TAYLOR, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Tay lor of Route 1, Boone, has return ed to Fort Jackson, S. C., after spending' fourteen days with his parents. Pvt. Taylor has com pleted eight weeks of basic train ing and will be spending the next eight weeks in school at Fort Jackson. SERVE? IN KOREA Pfc. Homer G. Perry, who took his basic training at Camp Atter berry, Indiana, is now serving in Korea. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Perry of Zionville. FATHER BUMANN TO APPEAR IN LECTURES A series of four free lectures on the Catholic Church will be given by Father F. Bumann at the Daniel Boone Hotel, it was announced today. The first lec ture will be given Friday, Octo ber 8 at 8 p. ra. The remaining lectures on the three following Fridays. The talks will last one hour, including the question box, and will treat of the history, teach ings and practices of the Catholic Church, said Father Bumann. His topics will be: "The Church Through the Centuries"; "Stamp of Approval"; "Master Key to Spiritual Barriers"; "The Church and You." The-public is invited. The 25th "Ttopic xightninj" Division, which has seen motfe combat in Korea than any other American unit, arrived on the peninsola in July 1950, shortly after the Communist invasion. Pennell, overseas since last October, is assigned to the divi sion's 35th Tank Company. He entered the Army ifl March 1953 and completed basic training at Fort Knox, K y. Scouts Visit Indian Fair The Boy Scout troop of Perk insville Baptist Church, Troop 55, spent last week end on an outing at Cherokee in the Smoky Moun tains, where they attended the Indian Fair and camped out for three nights.
