Stallings has return ed from a 4-day visit with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mercer in Lewisburg, N. C. Mr. Mercer, who was critical ly ill at the time, died Saturday. Recent visitors with Dr. and Mrs. H. M. JAMES LEWIS Pictured above is the former Miss Kathleen Greer who became the bride of Mr. James Lewis of Chicago on August 27 at the First Baptist Church in a lovely candle light setting. The Rev. A. C. Kais er of Lenoir officiated using the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Lewis was given in marri age by her brother, Mr. Lloyd Greer. The wedding party consisted of Mrs. Imogene Greene, sister of the bride, as matron of honor; brides maids were Mae Tucker, Robbie Lynn Norris, Jean Shelton, Mary Hollars, Betty Hicks and Betty Moore. Little Joyce Edmisten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Voyne Edmisten, was flower girt. Ushers were Har ris Greene, Jerry Troutman, Dean Johnson and William Hayes. Demp sey Morrison of Charleston, West Virginia, was bast man for Mr. Lewis. Miss Ann Cottrell played beau tifully for the ceremony, using traditional nuptial music. Mrs. Marta Greene of Deep Gap gave two renditions: "Always," and "I Love You Truly." The color scheme was pastel shades of pink, blue and yellow. Mrs. Greene, matron of honor, car tied a bouquet of roses and wore a sky blue gown. The bride's gown was a family heirloom and her veil was twilight white. She ehoie to wear a single strand of pearls given by her mother. Her bouquet was a white Bible covered with a corsage of orchids and rib bon. The mother of the bride was dressed in grey and white with a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Lewis, mother of the groom, wore navy with yellow roses. For going away Mrs. Lewis changed to a white and rose en semble. Mr. Lewis is a graduate of Al lied Institute of Technology in Chi cago. ' Mrs. Lewis finished Lenoir High School and haa been employed for several years In the dietary depart ment of Watauga General Hospital. After a wedding trip to Canada and Niagara Falls, they will be at home in Chicago. A cake-cutting was held Friday evening at the Gateway Restaurant for members of the wedding party. Carlo* DeLima and Mias Joanne Aldridge honored Miss Sara - Und Dowling with a dinner party on August 29th. Miu Dowling is the October 1st bride-elect of Lieut. C. B. Craig, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio. A lovely arrangement of red carnations was used as the center piece. Miss Dowling was presented a corsage of white carnations and a gift of lingerie. Fourteen guests were entertained. Surprise Shower The choir of the Boone Metho dist Church honored Miss Sara Lind Dowling, bride-elect, on Thursday night with a surprise shower. j\ ' Presiding at the punch bowl were Miss Elizabeth Bridge and Mra. Wiley G Hartzog, Sr. Re freshments consisted of individual wedding bell shaped sandwiches, cookies and punch, carrying out the color scheme of green. The party waa held in the church's reception room, and Miss Dowling received many lovely gifts from members of the choir. The Junior Woman's Club U working on plans to open a kinder garten, but so far have been hamp ered in their efforts because they cannot find a suitable location to hold it.
