Mrs. Ralph Greer is visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Captain and Mrs. Cedric Hunter in Arling ton, Va. for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Alexander and son, David, of Newland, spent the past week end with Mr. Alexan der's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Alexander. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Cook re turned last week from Atlanta, Ga. after visiting for two weeks with their daughter and son-in law, Mr. and Mr*. Earl Johnson. Mr. Howard Steelman arrived in Boone Sunday night to spend a few weeks with his wife and children. Mr. Steelman i* a mem ber of the Merchant Marines. Mr. Milton Barden returned to Pfeiffer College Sunday after spending the holidays with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. John C. Barden. Reese Graham, son of Mr. and Mr*. William P. Graham of Todd, underwent surgery at Watauga Hospital last Friday. His condition is reported to be good. James Robert Bingham returned to the University of North Caro lina last week after spending the holiday* with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bingham. Miss Catherine Lyons of Detroit, Mich, and Lt John W. Williams of Scott Field, HI. were visitors recently with Lt. Williams*" par ents. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Williams. While there Mrs. Miller and her daughter-in-law made a trip to New York, where they visited the Cinerama (Seven Wonders of the World) and other points of interest. Dixon of SUtesville, and Mrs. Betty Ragan of Lenoir. • — a- * Children Fclcd On New Year's Trask and Ann Buxton enter tained the teenagers of Blowing Rock at a New Year's Eve party at the home of their parents, Mr. aqd Mrs. A K. Buxton, in Blowing Rock. A musical party, the house was decorated with cut-out musical notes fastened to the walls, and placed on tables and chairs. The teenagers played popular records and ate turkey biscuits, sand wiches, hot chocolate and mints. Twenty Blowing Rock boys and girls attended the party. Miss Calloway Mr. Weiss Wed MRS. Miss Calloway is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Calloway of Route 1, Banner Elk. Mr. Weiss is the son of Mr. Josef Weiss of Coral Key, Fla., and of Mrs. W. E. Dumont of Miami. The ceremony was performed in the North Miami Seventh-day Adventist Church of Miami by Elder W. B. Johnson. The bride, given in marriage by Roy W/ktt of Milford, Delaware, a friend, wort a gown of lace over satin cut with net yoke with ap pliqued neckline and bertha edged with appliqued flowers and sequ ins, long sleeves and a bouffant skirt ending in a chapel train. Her shoulder-length veil was fastened to a coronet of pearls and sequins. Her bouquet was of white feather ed mums centered with white carnations. Mrs. Mary E. Bateman of Miami, Florida was matron of honor. Her gown was of powder blue organxa, with fitted bodice, off-shoulder neckline, short sleeve*, bouffant skirt and matching headpiece. Her bouquet was of red carnations. Miss Ann Hope of Kings port, Tenn., Miss Ova Padgett of Orlan do, Fla. and Mrs. C. Paul Jones of Winston-Salem were bridesmaids. Their dresses, headpieces and flowers were 'similar to those of the matron of honor. Diana Weiss, daughter of the bridegroom by a former marriage, was flower girl. She wore a dress of white organza with hoop skirt, flowered headpiece, and carried a basket filled with rose petals. William Clark of Hollywood, Florida was best man. Ushers were Elvis Sullivan and C. D. Dickson of Miami, Florida, and Tom Satonica, of Washington, D. C. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held in the Youth Hall of North Miami Church. After a wedding trip to Coral Key in Biscayne Bay the couple will be at home at 735 N. W. 144 Street, Miami, Fla. The bride was educated at Cove Creek High School and Southern Missionary College at Chattanooga, Tenn. She has been teaching for the past two years in the Miami Junior Academy. The bridegroom attended Edi son High School in Miami and Washington Missionary College in Washington, D. C. He operates the S. and J. Automotive Service in Miami. Hart, pastor of the bride, performed the double ring ceremony at his home in West Jefferson with only members of the immediate families present The bride wore a navy blue suit with navy and white accessories. After a brief wedding trip the couple will move into their newly erected home at Todd. The bride is a graduate of Elk land High School and is employ ed at International Resistance Company at Boone. The groom, also, is a graduate of Elkland lflgh School. He serv ed two years in the U. S. Army and is presently employed by his father. Engagement Is Announced The engagement of Miss Eliza beth Hill Jarrett and John William Holshouser is announced by Mr. and Mr*. Cecil H. Jarrett of New ton, parents of the bride-to-be. Mr. Holshouser is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R P. Holshouser of Blowing Rock. The wedding is scheduled to be held Saturday, January 26, in the First Methodist Church of New ton. Mrs. J. R. Ellis Fetes Children Mrs. Joseph R. Ellis entertained a group of children at the Ellis home on Farthing Road honoring their young so if, Roger Stephen Ellis, on his fourth birthday.
