FACTORY WORKERS' PAT The Labor Department has, re ported that average weekly .earn ings of factory workers in March, after deduction of Federal taxes, dropped a little more than 30 cents, to $74.65 for a worker with three dependents, and $67.29 for a single worker. Factory worker's buying power also declined, re flecting shorter working hours as well as higher living costs. Pick strawberries about three times a week. >1 ■'» ■ 1 I a*. —' . ■ — Frequent Washing Of Nylorta Needed WASH NYLON OFTEN—Whit* nylon garment! should be washed often. Preferably they ihould be wuhed after each wearing. Home furnishings as well as garments re quire frequent washing to main SOKT WATER IMPORTANT, TOO—Soft water is essential in any good washing procedure. Dis coloration of nylons is usually a more pronounced problem in hard water. Soften the water to reduce the possibility of trouble and use a good heavy-duty detergent with an effective optical bleach and you'll greatly lessen your pro blems on use-discolored nylons. NEW, IMPORTANT FOOD PACKAGING—Food packaging in dustry is developing many new and important things. Among the new er innovations is a "boil in the bag" type of packaging which pro mises to rid the homemaker of the unpleasant job of washing pots and pans. Some firms are now distributing some pre-cooked specialty items which were originally introduced by a famous restaurant in New York City. Homemakers can now include the following foods from the famous restaurant: Salisbury steak, Swedish meat balls, beef goulash. They are pre-cooked and froten in a sealed, air-tight big. The homemaker takes the bag from the refrigerator, pops it into the boiling water for 12 minutes, cuts it open and pours the steam ing food onto the plate. There is no defrosting and no pans or spoons to wash. And what is even more important, food nu trients are fully conserved. Fortunately, designers have be gun thinking about our teen-agers. Consequently, their clothes are a far cry from sloppy sweaters and the dirty saddle shoes that were a must some years ago.
