FEDERAL PAYROLL The Federal Government's civil ian pay roll exceeded $11,000,000, 000 during the last fiscal year for the first time, according to Sena tor Harry F. Byrd, chairman, Joint Committee on Reduction of Non essential Federal Expenditures. The total for the year ended June 80 was *11,000474,000. This com pared with slightly over $10,900, 000,000 in the previoua fiscal year and about $0^00,000,000 each for the two preceding years. Average civilian employment during the 12 months also reached a new high of 2.304,099 persons—an Increase of about 80,000 over the previous fiscal year.
