The state winner receive* a $900.00 college scholarship and enters National competition be ginning with the regional contest leading to a chance at the nation al title. The national winner re ceives a $4,000.00 college scholar ship; second place national win ner receives a $2.500 000 college scholarship; third place national winner receives a $1,00000 col lege scholarship, and 4th place national winner receives a $800.00 college scholarship. Each school participating will select a representative to enter the county contest on or before February 10, 1998. County contests will be held between February 10th and February 19th; District contests February 17th to Febru ary 24th; and division contests February 28th to March lit. The North Carolina State finals con test will be held on March 7, 1988. Chairman Murrell said that these contests are a National Ameri canism activity of The American Legion approved by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The subject used--must be on some phase of the Constitu tion of the United States which will give emphasis to the attend ant duties and obligations of a citizen of our government.
