Woman's Club Has Session /The Worthwhile Woman's Club had it* monthly meeting last Thorn day at the homo o f Mm Herman Wilcox with Meadames Harold Tieknor, J. C. Goodnight, Joe Crawford, E. M. Luttrell. R. C. Winebarger, Raleigh Cot trail, Hoyt Roberson, and Ralph Greene serv ing as associate hostesses | As the elub members and guests arrived, they were greeted by tu lips at their peak of beanty near the doorflde at if their special mission was to add happiness and continued this favgr through a window after entering the home. There were nearly SO members present and two guests, Mrs. Pres ton Rhyne of Hickory, president of third district, and Mrs. William N. Cowan, president of the Wo man's Club of Hickory. Mrs. Florence E. Wethered of Orlando, Fla., and Boone, was wel comed back into the club as a summer member. Miss Elizabeth Lord, who has been in ill health for sometime, was welcomed back as an active member. Mrs. Herman Wilcox, president, presided over the meeting which was opened by the repeating of the collect. Mrs. P. H. Vance, chairman of Religion of the World, led the devotional exercises. Mrs. A. E. South, recording sec retary, expressed how much she had enjoyed the year working with the president, and read the minutes of the last meeting. Mrs Homer Brown, auditor, gave the report of the treasurer, Mrs. Herman Eggers. She report ed an increase in funds with all bills paid for the year and that the books were accurately and well kept by Mrs. Eggers. Miss Elizabeth M. Lord: chair man of Gifts and Cards, gave a two-year report. There were 88 cards mailed, 17 gifts presented, and 12 hand-woven towels sent to be used as favors at the National convention in Asheville. Mrs. D. L. Wilcox, chairman of the special building fund, reported an increase in the fund. Mrs. B. W. Stalllngs reminded the club members that the Russell Antique Show will be held July 14, 19 and 18 in the library at Blowing Rock. It is sponsored by the club. The eluh voted to adopt a resolution in memory of Mn. Smart. A committee was ap pointed to write the resolutions aa follows: Mrs. Lee Reynolds, Mrs. W. R. Richardaon, and Mrs. Ed Hall Mrs. Ray also raparted the club invitations to the wedding of the Rev. and Mrs. M. F. Muder, April 29. The Music and Art Dteparti ment honored them at their May dinner meeting. Mrs. Muder, the former Mrs. Florence Page Wil liams, is a member of that de partment. Mrs. L. L. Bingham, historian, reported that the history of the club from April 6, 1923, through August 1934 has been written, and she expressed the wish the club would publish these facts since they were gathered from sources of black ai)d white. Many mistakes have been made due to lack of recorded facts which were burned. Mrs .R. C. Wlnebarger, historian, reported she has written the club history beginning September af 1934 through the present year. Her facts were largely based on the club year books. Mrs. Herman Wilcox gave a re port of her year's work. Mrs. Preston Rhyne installed the new officer* of the Worthwhile Woman's Club. She commended the club on achievement and prais ed the club for the improvement in club repdrta this year. The district has 28 clubs: 10> junior and 18 senior clubs. Expla nation was made of how the Hic kory club has studied Religions of the World. "Woman's club work must mean something and do something for the community.
