Sunday's rains changed into sleet in late afternoon, and soon the driving wind was filled with snow. By Monday morning the temperature had dropped to 11 degrees, but rose to 37 during the day, be fore plunging to the sub-zero mark. Records kept by Joe Minor, of the U. S. Weather Bureau here, indicate that the four be low was the coldest time we have had, certainly colder than at any time during last winter, when the low is shown to have been one below on March 5. Roads were slippery Monday morning, and traffic was hind ered to some extent, but high way crews got the sand trucks to moving right away and the most dangerous places were treated. Later in the day the one-inch of snow had vanished from the most traveled roads, and travel moved normally.
