This could mean an eventual boost in fares. The CAB decision appeared to open the way for the twelve do mestic trunk airlines to ask new fare increases. Industry sources said it was un likely, however, that there would be any rush to do this. Washington Notes EXCHANGE AGREEMENT The United States and .Commu nist Romania have reached an ex change agreement covering grad uate students, tourists and scieiv tifie. industrial and cultural pro grams. The only other exchange agree ment that has been set up with a Communist nation is one with Russia. The exchange agreement is to include swapping of various exhi bits, books and radio and televi sion programs. CUTS DEPENDENT CURB The Government has eased its controversial order limiting the number of military dependents overseas, so now there are loop holes some families may squeeie through. American service men and their families spend American dollars while overseas and these dollars sometimes are redeemed for American gold by foreign banks. WILCOX Asks Help On Gazeleer To The Editor: After nearly ten years of re search I am about to complete work on a North Carolina gazetteer which will list and briefly describe the citiea, towns, and named com munities; rivers and other streams; lakes, sounds, bays, rivers, creeks, and other bodies of streams of water; mountains; gaps, pocosins and swamps; and other named geographical features in NurU Carolina. The main entry la every nee will be under the present or la it uaed name of such feature, but I should like to know of form er names which are no longer uaed or which ceased to be used. Fea tures which no longer exist (such as towns which have been cover ed by lakes or for other reasons have gone out of existence, lakes which have been drained, mines which have closed, etc.) will be described and dates of their exist ence given whenever possible. I also hope to explain the ori gin, meaning or derivation of the names, and in as many cases as possible to indicate when cities, towns and communities were first settled and when they were in corporated. I will be grateful to your read ers for any information of this na ture which they can supply. I should like them to distinguish between what they know for a fact and what it simply tradition handed down to them. Such infor mation may be sent to me in care of the University of North Caro lina Library. William S. Powell Chanel Hill HUNTERS' HELPER FLARE RED FOR SAFETY Telephone Talk by H. M.
