In a stately and beautiful cere mony Sunday afternoon, June 4, at five o'clock, Miss Katherine Mae Moore of New York City, formerly of Lenoir, and Captain John Wesley William*, Jr. of Boone were united in marriage at the Central Advent Christian Church in Lenoir. Miss Moore is the daughter of Mrs. Katherine Isbell Moore and D. Howard Moore of Lenoir. Capt. Williams is the son of Mrs. John W. Williams of Boone and the late Mr. Williams. Rev. Garland C. Preslar officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The vows were spoken before a back ground of seven-branched candel abra with lighted tapers, ferns and baskets of white gladioli. The altar candles were burning on each side of the Church Bible opened at I Corinthians, 13. Wedding music was rendered by Mr. Carroll Brookshire, organist, who played "The Voice That Breathed O'er Eden, That Earliest Mr. and Mrs. Frank Payne and John and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Long sleeves tapered to points over the hands. The bouffant skirt featured cascading ruffles alternating in lace and tulle. Her three-tiered elbow length veil of illusion was attached to a coronet of matching lace re-embroidered in sequini and pearls. She carried a white lace prayer book, a gift of the bride groom. The Bible was topped with two white orchids. Matron of Honor was Mrs. H. Eugene Dellinger of Raleigh, sister of the bride. She wore a ballerina length dress of shocking pink or ganza, designed with a fitted bodice and bracelet-length sleeve* of Venice lace, designed with a circle neckline and bow in center front, a bouffant skirt with a deep hem. She wore a matching hat of silk braid outlined with pearls and highlighted with a short scalloped veil. Bridesmaids were Miss . Norma Mr. and Mrs. Bob McConnell of Greenville, S. C., who were called here last week becauae of the death of hia father, Mr. J. C. Mc Connell. have decided to remain here a few weeks with Mr*. Mc Connell. The bridegroom s mo her wore a light blue silk with a lace bodice and matching blue ?eces sories. She had a corsage of pink carnations. ' For her going-away outfit, the bride chose a gold cotton suit o material woven, tailored and made in Europe. Her accessories were black patent leather and her orch ids from her Bible. The bride and bridegroom left on Monday from Charleston, S. C. to Casablanca, Morocco. From there they will go to Madrid, Spain, and possibly to Pans, France. Charles Rhlnehart, pastor of the West Jefferson Methodist Church, and the Rev. Edwin Troutman, paator of Grace Lutheran Church, Boone, officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis of West Jefferson and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Tay lor of Boone. The vows were spoken before a background of candelabra, palms, tall baskets of white gladioli and mock orange, and arrangements of gladioli, snapdragons, and chrysan themums in brass vases on pedes tals. Prior to the ceremony, a pro gram of wedding music was pre sented by Mrs. R. G. Pugh of West Jefferson, soloist, and Richard Luke of Jefferson, organist. The traditional wedding marches were used for the processional and re cessional. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of satin faced organza with French re-em broidered Alecon lace and seed pearls encircling the neckline and elbow-length sleeves. The floor length bouffant skirt, which was fashioned with a bustle effect and trimmed at the waistline with satin roses, extended into a chapel train. Her fingertip veil of ailk illusion was attached to a headpiece of pearls and a satin rose. She car ried a cascade bouquet of calla lillles. Mrs. Wayne Burgess of West Jefferson was matron of honor Bridesmaids were Mrs. James Thornhill of Boone and Miss Kaye Florence of Greensboro, college roommates ef the bride, Mrs. Larry Davis of Wast Jefferson, sister-in law of the bride, Miss Joan Hardin of Charlotte, and Misses Lynn Winkler of Boone and Brenda Lawrence of West Jefferson, cous ins of the bride. They wore gowns of niie green silk organza over taffeta styled with bell-shaped skirts with rose trim at the waist In the back. Their headdresses were nile organza petal bows with circular maline veils and they car ried baskets of mixed summer flow ers. Charles G. Following the reception the cou ple left on a brief wedding trip to western North Carolina. For trav eling, the bride wore a cocoa brown two-piece dress with a matching beige embroidered jacket, bone ac cessoriea, and a white orchid cor sage.
