"See How They Run" Is
Playcrafter Staging
The Playcrafters of Appalach
ian State Teachers College are
preventing "See How They
Run," a smash London hit by
Philip King, on January 30, 31,
and February 1 at 8 p. m., in
the College Theater in the audi
torium of the college admin
istration building.
David French, assistant pro
fessor of speech and director of
the Playcrafters, said, "So swift
is the action, so involved the
situations, so rib-tickling the
plot that at its finish audiences
are left as exhausted from
laughter as though they them
selvs had run a footrace."
The action of the play takes
place in the hall of a vicarage.
Galloping in and out of the four
doors of an English vicarage
are an American actor and act
ress (he is now stationed with
the air force in England), a
cockney maid who "touches al
cohol for the first time in her
life," four men in clergyman's
suits, one of whom is an es
caped prisoner, and another a
sedate bishop aghast at all the
goings on and the trumped up
stories that are told him.
In the cast are Mary Keever
as Ida, the Cockney maid, Pris
cilla Savage as Miss Kaillin, a
nasty old woman, Charles Gor
don as Rev. Lionel Toop, Vir
ginia Palmier! as Penelope
Toop, the Reverend's wife. Bill

New Tax Law
Aids Farmers
Farmers, along with other
businessmen! can benefit from
several changes made by the
last Congress in federal income
tax regulations.
One of the most important
changes to remember in filing
1962 tax returns is the new rule
relating to investment credit,
says Charles Pugh, extension
farm management specialist at
North Carolina State College.
Congress, in efefct, cut tax
liability on certain investments
in an effort to spur machinery
and equipment sales.
Specific information on the
new investment credit regula
tion and other instructions on
filing 1962 Federal Income Tax
returns are included in a new
extension publication "Farmer's
Tax Guide." Free copies are
available from county agricul
tural agents.
Briefly, Pugh says, the new
rule means that a person may
be able to reduce his tax lia
bility by 7 per cent on invest
ments which qualify for the
credit. The reduction is restrict
ed to machinery and equipment
with a useful life of at least
four years. Purchases made in
1962, even during the latter
months of the year, may qualify.
