Watauga 4-H Leaders Back From Meeting At Fontana Two Watauga county senior i 4-H Club members returned from Fontana Village, late last week with a greater apprecia tion for the resources of the Tennessee Valley. They also returned with the determination to develop these resources through their 4-H cjub work .. , .Gerldine Dishman of Timber ridge and Byron Farthing of Bethel were among 303 ?lub members and leaders attending the Eighth Annual Regional Resource Development Confer ence. The heart of the program was small group study of the re sources of the Tennessee Val ley. With other delegates, Gerldine and Byron took a close look at the atmosphere, soils, minerals, forests, wildlife, wat er and human resources of the area. Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia were re sponsible for program material in one resource area. The Rev. and Mrs. Bill Rhyme of Winston-Salem spent the week end with Mr. and Mn. C. L. Warren. Mrs. Amanda Miller spent a few weeks recently with Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Miller. Mrs. Sue McGlamery of Charlotte spent the week end with her parents and was accompanied home by her mother, Mrs. Sher man Miller. Mrs. Lee Wilson visited re cently with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Helceth in Athens, Ga. Mrs. R. C. Eggers and the Rev. and Mrs. Gene Sherwood visited this week end in Kings port, Tenn., with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Eggers. Mr. Eggers is recovering from surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Snyder and family of Trade, Tenn., visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wallace. Mr. and Mn. Clint Winebarg er and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Greene spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Vance Vines and fam ily in Burlington. Mr. and Mrs. James Layng of St. Cloud, Fla., arrived here last week to spend the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Clay Reece vis ited with Miss Floye Cannon at Vilas. Visiting Mr. *nd Mrs. Reece in the afternoon were Mrs. James Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Krider and Ronnie Pardue, all of Shouns, Tenn. Miss Martha Miller spent Sun day night with her aunt, Mrs. Howard Dancy, and Mr. Dancy at Vilas. Legion Meet Next Friday Watauga Post 130 The Amer ican Legion will have its regu lar meeting on Friday night, June 14. All members and visiting members are requested to be present. Plans will be made to attend the Department Convention in Charlotte, June 20 to 23. At the close of the meeting the Auxiliary will serve refresh ments.
