Word has just been received
that Marshall Hargrave, Educa
tional Director of First Baptist
Church, Boone, and "Hank"
Greer, Baptist Campus Chaplain
at Appalachian State Teachers
College, have been designated
as Discussion Group Leaders at
the 6th Baptist Youth World
Confertnce in Beirut, Lebanon,
July 15-21. Hargrave and Greer
will be conducting a tour of
Europe and the Near East, in
conjunction with this internat
ional gathering of Baptist youth.
An attendance of 4000 young
people and youth leaders from
as many as 70 countries is ex
pected to assemble In the
U.N.E.S.C.O. Auditorium for
their major sessions. Morning
lectures will be held in five
different locations, followed by
many small discussion groups to
allow the youth to discuss the
meaning of the day's topic' in
their own countries and parti
cular cultures. Both tour con
ductors have been asked to
lead one of these discussion
groups.
Theme of the Conference is
"Jesus Christ ? In a Changing
World." Program personalities
will include Charles Malik of
Lebanon, former president of
the United Nations; W. G.
Wickramasingh, principal of
Carey College, India; Joao F.
Soren, Rio de Janerio, Brazil,
President of the Baptist World
Alliance; Emanuel Dahunsi,
pastor, Lagos, Nigeria; Miss
Renuka Mukerji, President of
Woman's Christian College,
Madras, India; Robert Hingson,
M.D., Western Reserve School
of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio
and many other notables.
The 30 day Greer-Hargrave
tour will depart from New YoHc,
Idlewild Airport, July 11 and
will visit France, Lebanon, Sy
ria, Israel, Greece, Italy, Swit
zerland, and England, in addi
tion to spending a week in the
Holy Land, visiting places as
sociated with the birth, life and
death of Jesus Christ.

Three Forks
F. Mason Hudspeth has ar
rived to become pastor of the
Three Forks Baptist Church of
Boone. He was formerly the
pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist
Church and director of the
George W. Truett Camp of
Hayesvllle.
Mr. Hudspeth is married to
the former Patricia Brasington
of Lancaster, S. C, and they
have two children, Sarah, age
2Vi years, and Ruth, 13 months.
He is a native of Belmont.
Mr. Hudspeth is a graduate
of Mt. Holly High School, Gard
ner-Webb College (Jr.), Wake
Forest College, and Southeast
ern Seminary. He was the
pastor of Bethesda Baptist
Church of Palmer Springs, Va.,
while in seminary.

John Clingman Hodges, age
83, of Boone, died June 12 in
the Watauga Hoepital.
He was a farmer and life-long
rwident of WaUuga County,

Mary Greene Hodge*.
Funeral services were con
ducted Friday at 2 p. m. at the
Meat Camp Baptist Church with
Rev. R. C. Eggers officiating,
assisted by Rev. Lloyd Culler*

He is survived by the widow,
