Weather

Do tiie winds of a hurricane
in the southern hemisphere ro
tate around the eye clockwise
or counter-clockwise?
In the southern hemisphere
winds around such storms ro
tate clockwise ? just the op
posite from their movement in
the northern hemisphere. This
is believed to be caused by the
motion of the turning earth.
All the signs and warning
omens of hurricanes, then,
would be read differently in
the southern hemisphere. Many
other phenomena are different
below the equator.
Nature's deflection of bullets
and shells, growing character
istics of . certain trees, the way
rivers cut into one bank, are
all different in the southern
hemisphere. Hiere the prevail
ing veer of these things is to
the left, not the right.
