Miss Rivers, a senior at the Univer sity and a member of the staff of the Watauga Democrat, ex pects to return to the local newspaper when she receives her degree. Dr. John G. Harden, who was hurt recently in an auto .acci dent near Yadkinville, has re turned home and is convalesc ing satisfactorily. Mrs. Danner is a graduate of Appalachian High School and Caldwell College of Commerce In Lenoir and Is pre sently employed at Boone Chamber of Commerce. Garden Club Council Meets The Watauga Council of Gar den Clubs met Wednesday evening, September 4, at the home of Mrs. Max Dixon, with Mrs. H. W. Wilcox, president, presiding. Plans for a Lily Show to be held next June were discussed. The Lily Show will be held un der the auspice* of the North Carolina State Lily Society, and sponsored by the Watauga Council of Garden Clubs. Mrs. John Hollar was ap pointed chairman of the Christ mas Decoratirfns Program. The Council voted to accede to the request of the Boone Junior Woman's Club that the Wata uga Garden Club Council spon sor the event this year. And, they will be moving next May to the Hawaiian Islands for three years. Isn't that exciting? This was a lovely parts and I don't know when we en joyed anything more. Cherry Pudding Stir together 1V? cups sugar 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon Add 1 beaten egg 2 cups drained sour cherries (reserve juice for sauce) 1 tablespoon melted butter % cup nuts Bake 45 minutes at 325 de grees. Hake sauce of cherry juice, H cup sugar, XH teaspoon flour and 1 tablespoon butter. Boil few minutes and pour over pudding while hot. This is very good served with vanilla ice cream.
