Diverted Acreage May Now Be Used To Graze Effective October 1, grazing of acreage diverted from pro duction of crops under the 1963 Feed Grain and Wheat Stabili zation Programs will be permit ted, according to Vaughn Tug man, chairman of the Watauga Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation County Commit tee. He stated that the date for which grazing had been per mitted was originally Novem FOR EXPERT WATCH REPAIRS . See s , j G. H. MADISON WATCH REPAIRIN#~ 129 East King St. ber 1; however, in order to al leviate, to some extent, the shortage of forage in areas con taining spotty drought condi tions, the date has been moved forward to October 1. Since many farmers normally salvage dropped ears of corn and other crop residue by turn ing livestock on the harvested cropland in the fall, the permis sion to graze will permit farm ers to continue this normal prac tice without being put to un reasonable work, time and ex pense for fencing off diverted acreage. In making this announcement, Mr. Tugman points out that in most cases, ACP assistance would be available for those de siriqg to put a winter cover ctplL oqt the diverted acreage. Farmers desiring more informa tion about this assistance should contact the Watauga ASCS of fice.
