Watauga Industries
May Be Liquidated
A special meeting for the
Stockholders of Watauga Indus
trie*, Inc., has been set for
October 31, at 12 noon, at the
Daniel Boone Inn in Boone, for
the purpose of considering the
liquidation of the citizens' or
ganisation, It was announced
last Thursday by Glenn An
drews, President of the corpora
tion.
Many of the directors and
stockholders of Watauga Indus
tries, Inc., feel, according to
Andrews, that the purpose of
the organization has been ful
filled and that by liquidating
it now they can pay 100% and
perhaps some additional on all
stock.
Liquidation of the corporation
would leave many stockholder*
free to invest in the 4%% 15
year bonds presently being of
fered by the newly -formed Wa
tauga Citizens, Inc., an offshoot
of Watauga Industries, Inc., to
finance the construction of
Boone's new shoe factory.
The main reason for consider
ing liquidation, Andrews stated,
is that it is generally felt that
this action will allow members
to throw fuller support to Wa
tauga Citizens, Inc., in the im
portant role that this organiza
tion will play in the future
growth of Watauga County.

Taking the apple to the office
