Halloween Carnival Is Success At
Cove Creek High School; Other News
Friday night was a period of
fun, excitement and thrills as
Owe Creek held its annual Hal
loween Oamival. The feature
booths included bingo, dart throw
ing, basketball throwing, fishing,
weight guessing, horseshoe pitch
ing and horror house.
The door prize, a blanket, was
won fay Hilda Thomas. Sandy
Hodges won the rifle; Linda
Church, the girl's watch; Jean
ette Byrd, bey's watch.
First prize in the Talent Show
went to Donna Townsend and J ae
Shore for ? Charleston dance;
Becky Wilson and Jerry Wallace
woo second place singng a duet;
third place went to the "Clowns."
The evening was climaxed by
the presentation of the Harvest
Festival court and crowning of
the king and queen. The court
consisted of Marie Baird, Kay
Triveue, Carolyn Beace, David
ThetpM- J?rry. Wallace, sod
James Baird. Kay and James
were crowned Harvest Queen and
King by the Principal, Carl
Fidler.
Class Beauties
Each of the classes have elect
ed their four class beauties. Pic
tures of these beauties will be
seat to either Andy Griffith or
Tennessee Qnie Ford who will
select the most attractive girl
from each group. Senior beauties
are Betty Smith, Hilda Thomas,
Betty Norife, and Ann Vannoy.

Linda Donnelly, and Sandra
Hodges. Selected from the sopho
more class tare Carolyn Reece,

and Joyce Church. The freshman

Student Council
The Student Council of Cove
Greek High School met and se
lected the Recreation Commit
tee. This committee is in charge
of sock hops, recreation during
lunch and other various
types a i recreation throughout the
school. The committee consists
of Jeanne Banner, Becky Wilson,
Merle Isaacs, Ann Vannoy, Linda
Donnelly, Mary Jo Bingham, Lois
Greene, Joan Shore, Alfc Yates,
Les Mtarioh, Freddy Henson, Cliff
Elder, with Sandra Snyder serv
ing as chairman; Steve Yates, co
chairman; and Phyllis Yates, re
porter.
As a part of its function, the
committee is planning a sock hop
on Friday night, November l, for
the student body.

On Friday, eighteen members
of the FFA Chapter of Owe
Creek Hiflh School made their
annual trip to the State Fair in
Raleigh. The group was accom
panied by R. G. Shipley, Chapter
Advisor and Freddie Yates, a
former student. Boys who went

Ashe Medical Society meeting
October 25 in Sparta. Dr. Thomas
R. Nichols of Morganton, chair
nun of the Chronic 'Disease Com
mittee of the Medical Society of
the State of North Carolina, was
guest speaker. Dr. Michal pre
sented Dr. Nichols to the group.

prove the physical condition of
the chronically ill, but can make
life more worth living for them
and their families.
