Barker erf Waynesville, C. — Deaths - nomuius L. story Lenoir, May 10—Funeral services for Romulus L. Story, 72, of Asheville, who died Tues day, were held Thursday after noon at Anderson-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville. A Watauga County native, Mr. Story had lived in Caldwell County until his retirement from Lenoir Veneer Company eight years ago. He was a vet eran of World War I. He was the brother of Mrs. Lum Davis of Lenoir. Ottie B. Miller Ottie Blaine Miller, 56, of Zionville, died Sunday in Yad kinville after a long illness. He was born in Watauga Coun ty to John Monroe and Josie King Miller. He is survived by three sis ters, Mrs. Ed Greer, Mrs. Ona Greer and Mrs. Estella Reese of Zionville; and three brothers, Frank Miller of Boone, Tom Miller of Yadkin ville and Will Miller of Zion ville. The funeral was held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Mabel Metho dist Church. Officiating was the Rev. E. O. Queen. Interment was in die church cemetery. Joseph Mack Duncan Joseph Mack Duncan, 75, of Route 10, Lenoir, died Thurs day in Blowing Rock Hospital. He was a retired coal miner and the son of Mack and Julie Duncan. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maggie M. Duncan; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Lula How ard of Mountain City, Tenn., Mrs. Grace Trivette of Thom as ville, Mrs. Hazel Watson of Deep Gap and Mrs. Faye Wat son of Lenoir; four stepsons, Johnny and Millard Huffman of Lenoir, Oscar Huffman of Johnson City, Tenn., and George Huffman of Keokee, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Flora Bellow of Nancy, Ky„ 37 step grand children and three step great grandchildren. The funeral wa held at 2 p. m. Saturday at Ra. .bow Bap tist Church at Shouns, Tenn. Burial was in the church ceme tery. Mrs. C. D. Ragan. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Greene of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Martha Eggers, and Mrs. Mag gie Moretz of Boone; five sons, , James L. and Ralph D. Penley j of Boone, John Penley of Hick- I ory, Silas Penley of Mount Airy and Paul Penley of Vilas; 40 grandchildren and 20 great grand-children. The funeral was held at 2 * p. m. Tuesday at Rich Moun tain Baptist Church with the Rev. Arnt Greer and the Rev. David Austin officiating. Burial was in Culler Cemetery. Joyce Ann Hicks Miss Joyce Ann Hicks, 20, of Route I, Zionville, died Satur day after a long illness. She was born in Avery Coun ty to James and Nancy Stan ley Hicks and was a former waitress at Appalachian State University. Surviving are her parents of Route 1, Zionville; three broth ers, James B. Jr., William and Ernest Hicks of Zionville; and three sisters, Misses Lin da, Laura and Janett Hicks of Zionville. Funeral services were con ducted at 2 p. m. Monday at Vanderpool Baptist Church by the Rev. Noah Johnson and the Rev. Rayner Matheson. Burial was in Hensons Chapel Ceme tery. Wilford Davis Wilford Davis, former resi dent of Boone, died May 7 at his home in Fairfax, Va„ fol lowing a sudden illness. He was born in Ashe County, where he spent his childhood. The family moved to Boone where he resided for 12 years. In Boone and in Virginia he was engaged in house building. He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Lance Bon net of Connecticut; two sons, Douglas Davis of the U. S. Air Force stationed in Alabama and Dickie Davis, Vienna, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Winkler of Boone and Mrs. Ralph Gil lespie of Reidsville; two broth ers, Bob Davis of West Jeffer son and Glenn Davis of Akron, Ohio.
