Primary Graders Give
Splendid Performance
Despite a steady downpour of rain,
a large crowd gathered in the Eden
ton school auditorium Friday night
to witness the operetta “Over the
Garden Wall’’ by primary grade chil
dren. About 100 children, attired in
attractive costumes made from crepe
paper, took part and produced one of
the most interesting entertainments
yet shown in the new school annex.
The youngsters were coached by Mrs.
M. A. Hughes, who directed the play
and in each instance various groups
won rounds of applause by the au
dience.
The play was a success from every
angle, the proceeds being approxi
mately $75.
Commissioners Plan
Buy New Jury Chairs
Following the recommendation of
the grand jury to provide more com
sortable seats in the jury box, the
County Commissioners at their meet
ing Monday considered the matter but
postponed definite action until a later
meeting. A sample of a fancy swivel
chair was presented which would be
screwed to the floor, but the Commis
sioners felt that a different style of
chair more in keeping with the in
terior. architecture of the building
be desirable and on that ac
count held ip placing the order until
more appropriate samples can be
furnished.
These samples will in all probabil
ity be on hand at the next meeting
and new chairs purchased before the
next term of Superior Court.
