W. Overman reports that final contracts were sign ed by a few fanners who had not pre viously signed, bringing to 99% the Chowan farmers who will cooperate. The result is that out of 813 farms 806 have signed up. In order to put workstock in the best of working condition a series of horse and mule clinics were started this week on the farms of R. C. Hol land and John G. Wood. Forty-six animals were treated for dound worms, seven were treated for Botts and 13 were given dental treatment. Two demonstrations were given on proper trimming and care of feet. Dr. L. A. Deese, local veterinarian, administered treatment assisted by Sam L. Williams, Assistant Extension Livestock Specialist from State Col lege, and the County Agent. Exami nations were free. Several animals were found to need no treatment. A total of 48 animals were treated at an average cost of SI.OO per head.
