Bon ner that both branches of Congress had confirmed his appointment as Edenton’s postmaster. Mr. Kramer’s position is now permanent, he hav ing passed the civil service examina tion required by postmasters, and the appointment does not necessarily change with a change in administra tion. Postmaster Kramer was first ap pointed by Lindsay Warren in 1933. PLEASANT GROVIE CLUB MEETS Mackeys. The Pleasant Grove . home Demonstration Club held its. regular monthly meeting with Mrs. | Edison Davenport on the afternoon of May 19, with a large percent of the members present. In the absence of ••the president, Miss Elizabeth Ches son, Mrs. Darden conducted the meet ing. The subject for discussion was the value of whole wheat in the diet, ' and Mrs. Darden, the home agent, gave the club members several recipes for using whole wheat flour. In the social part of the program, Mrs. Wyß. Davenport won the prize in the contest conducted by Mrs. Darden. Bonner Appointed To Investigate Shipping In Two Carolinas Congressman Herbert C. Bonner has been named chairman of an in vestigating committee created by the Merchant Marine Committee of the House of Representatives to visit the ports in North and South Carolina and investigate the cause of conges tion, the volume of supplies, and the delay in shipment of Lend-Lease ma terials awaiting transportation over seas. The appointment was made by 'Honorable S. O. Bland, chairman of the Merchant Marine Committee.
