Ralph Parrish Again Elected President Merchants Group Membership Will Com ply With Freezing- Accounts At a membership meeting of the Edenton Merchants Association held Tuesday night at Hotel Joseph Hewes, Ralph E. Parrish woe re elected as president of the group. Mr. Parrish served as president dur ing the past year and, accepted the presidency only after explaining that his time would be limited and that he could not devote as much time as heretofore. * John Mitchener was elected vice president, W. M. Wilkins, treasurer, and Mrs. Grace Dobson, secretary. The following were chosen as di rectors to serve for the year: L. C. Burton, T. C. Byrum, L. S. Byrum, W. D. Holmes, John Mitchener, R. P. Badham, G. C. Hobbs, W. M Wil kins and W. E. Malone. At the meeting Mrs. Dobson pre sented. a report of the Associations’ activities during the year which tend ed to show that a deal more had been accomplished than the mem bership generally realized. T. C. Byrum also reported on the meeting of the State Merchants Association, and was very enthusiastic over the work being done throughout the State. Former President J. G. Campen, who had no little to do with organiz ing the local Association, also stress ed the need of merchants cooperating and the advantages of being affiliated with the State Association. President Parrish was frank to say that local members fail to take ad vantage of the various services of fered by the Association, and urged more interest on the part of mem bers. One of the most important matters to be discussed was the government’s regulations concerning freezing of accounts. The Association voted unanimously to cooperate with the secretary in reporting these delin quent accounts. Under the regula tions, all charge accounts must oe paid in full before the 10th day of the second month after purchase, and if not paid by that time, the ac count will be reported, thus prevent ing the purchase of merchandise without the cash. Under the plan, too, installments must be brought up to date. LANNEAU CIRCLE MEETS Sophia Lanneau Circle of the Woman’s Missionary Society of the Baptist Church met Monday after noon with Mrs. B. F.
