Groups From Several
Counties Expected
To Attend
District No. 9 of the N. C. Con
gress of Parent-Teacher Association
will hold a war conference at Hert
, ford on Tuesday, October 20. Pres
ent for the meeting will be officers
and members of the Parent-Teacher
Associations in Bertie, Chowan, Cam
den, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hert
ford, Martin, Pasquotank, Perquim
ans, Tyrrell and Washington coun
ties.
A study will be made at this meet
ing of war agencies with which the
P. T. A. is cooperating as well as a
discussion of school education and
legislation.
A feature of the meeting will be
an address, “Parent-Teacher Asso-
ciations a Vital Force for Victory,”
by Mrs. J. S. Blair, of Elisabeth
town, State president. Others on the
program will be C. W. Phillips, o*
Greensboro, who will lead a sym
posium; a question hour and discus
*■ sion will be led by Mrs. E. N. Howell,
of Swannonoa, field representative
of the State organization.

district director, will preside .over the

Issues Order Relative
To Sale Os Peanuts
The Commodity Credit Corporation;
has issued an order regarding the
sale of excess peanuts, which states I
■ that “No person shall, without the'
approval of the Commodity Credit
Corporation, sell, contract for the
sale of, or deliver excess peanuts of
, the 1942 crop for any purpose other,
than crushing, and no person shall
j without the approval of the Commod
ity Credit Corporation, purchase, con
[ tract for the purchase of, accept de
j livery of, or use any such excess
, peanuts for any purpose other than
crushing.” Violations of this order
may be punished by fine and im
; prisonment.
The County AAA Office has just
received a copy of this order.

trade and the county office has ad
vised many producers that they i
might follow this procedure in selling!

Herald. Mrs. W. H. Coffield, who
incidentally is chairman of the surgi
cal dressing service, led all the work
ers, turning in 54 hours. Mrs. Leila
M. White, co-chairman, was next
highest with 32 hours, while Mrs. J.;
M. Price, Mrs. M. A. Hughes. Mrs.
W. J. Berryman, Miss Sarah Jones
and Mrs. O. M. Elliott followed, each
working over 20 hours.

Edenton’s firemen were called out
only one time during September, ac
cording to Fire Chief R. K. Hall.
