USO Clubs In Alaska
Become Very Popular |
That tli*- USO is interested in the!
forthcoming United War Fund Drive i
is reflected in a report by William j
E. Leigh, director of the USO Over-1
! seas Division, upon his return this j
week from a six weeks’ tour of
Alaska and visits to USO clubs from ;
Fairbanks oil the Arctic Circle to!
Prince Rupert in British Columbia. ■
“I traveled 13,000 miles," said Mr.j
Leigh,“and during all the trip 1 did
not see an Eskimo, an igloo or a
polar bear, but what 1 did see were
. crowds of men joining the USO
clubs, often the only place of . re
creation in a town, and sight-seeing
soldiers setting off under USO aus
pices to pan gold, visit mink and fox
farms and take part in fishing trips.”
