PAGE FOUR Applicants Slow To Register For Second Liquor Ration Book Registration Ends Nov. 30; Not Reopened Un til First of Year It' the same number of liquor ra tion books are to be issued in Cho wan County in the second registration as were issued in the first registra tion, applicants will have to apply at a more rapid rate or else a tremend ous rush will be experienced during the latter days of the registration which will end November 30, and af ter which no ration books will be is sued until January 1. For this reason members of the . howan County ABC Board urge all wljo desire to secure the second ra tion book to apply as early as pos sible and not wait until the very last minute. Applicants, in order to se cure the second ration book, which will be good to purchase liquor from December 1. 1943, to November 30, 1944, must present their War Ration Book No. 3, which will be punched. Chief Os Police Tanner In Demand As Speaker Chief of Police J. R. Tanner has had two speaking engagements thus far this week and is scheduled to speak again Friday morning. On Tuesday morning he spoke to one of the civic classes in the High School on the subject of “Citizen ship,” and on the same afternoon he spoke At the Parent-Teacher meeting, at which time his subject was “Juvenile Delinquency." Chief Tanner will again, on Friday morning, speak to another civics class in the local school. For this ad dress he Will also speak oh “Citizen -hip.” Miss Alice Belch Now In Navy Cadet Corps Miss Alice Belch former Edenton y':rl, has been accepted as a member of the Navy Cadet Corps at the Rocky Mount Sanatorium, where she has been a student nurse since Feb ruary. Since leaving Edenton Miss Belch has graduated from Raleigh High School, and is now' available for military service for the duration. I PENDER! Ward, of Sign Pine, were delightfully entertained 1 on Saturday evening at S o’clock, at an oyster supper given them by their children in honor of their sixtieth 1 birthdays.
