PAGE TWO Favorable Weather | Spurs Harvesting Os Peanuts In Section j . —— | ( Damage Due to Late ; Harvesting Varies Considerably Favorable weather during the past: week in the Vtrginia-Carolina area j resulted in resumption of harvesting of peanuts still in the field and some increase in the movement of farmers , Stock. This movement, however, still continues light Damage in this late harvested stock varies considerably. . Some lots do not show excessively heavy damage considering the late: date for harvesting, while other lots, show a very high percentage of dam age. In the Southeast movement of ' farmers' stock peanuts to mills has been extremely light. Most of the remaining farmers’ stock are being held for seed. In the Southeast some mills have ample seed supplies, while Others appear to be a little short.] 1 Planting continues in a limited way inj south Texas. In the Southeast plant-j 1 ing is still several Weeks away unless. 1 an unusually early period of warm, dry weather prevails. Some mills ; in both the Southeast and Southwest : are now using a fairly large propor-]' tion of their available labor for mix- 1 ing fertilizer and to a limited extent to the preparation of seed. Demand for cleaned and shelled goods in all sections continues far in excess of the available supply, with the exception of cleaned fanevs in | the Virginia-Carolina area. There; seems to be some accumulation of fancys in the hands of some millers.! For other grades in all sections prac tically the entire movement is under j previous commitments. Sonny got the idea mighty quick for a boy his age. Maybe it’s because he’s noticed how us farmers always tries to do things the natchel way. For instance, it just comes natchel to use Chilean soda to give our crops a quick start and keep ’em growing strong and healthy. Us farmers has been using natchel soda for more than a hundred years. Seems like just being natchel makes it different from any other kind. Maybe folks wont be able to get all the soda they tcant this season , but if we’re careful with what we get it may do.
