PAGE TWO Scouts Os Troop 170 Advancing Steadily Scoutmaster Tex Lind say Reports On Re cent Activities Some of the boys in Hoy Scout Troop No. 170 have been working hard on various merit badges des pite the fact that they have been busy with basketball. Scoutmaster Tex Lindsay reports that Fred keeter, Maurice Hassell and Sonny Stillman have been working hard on various .merit badge requirements, and will soon be ready for, the awards. Other activities among Troop V ! 70, according to Scoutmaster Lind say are to the effect that Johnny 'Thigpen is doing a lot of work with ' younger boys. Douglas Allen has just advanced to first class and is al ready u.nder way on his other classi fications. ; Malcolm and Emmitte Eason., Paulette Lane, Gt-iaUI Collins, Hill Sutton. Ivey Meadows, Charles M'>r , i ' and Jim nie Yates are all taking ■ a very thorough course in first aid. Seine of these boys have core into tile troop in the past few weeks and are doing a good job. There are iiow lf> boys in the troop and several others will be added in the near future. As soon as all parts id the rjt-grown uniforms can hi- replaced. Troop 170 will be a very active.and presentable troop. Mr. Leigh from. Suffolk. . who is now helping with the troop, is a very good man for the job. Section 4. Failure t>> Begin Oper ; ations. If a Certificate is granted to an applicant, and said applicant shall j fail, in accordance with the provi sions of the Certificate, to begin op | erations w ithin sixty days after the | date of said Certificate, then said Certificate shall become null and void. Section to. Transfer. A Certificate is not transferable without the consent of the Town Council. Applications for a permit to transfer shall be filed in the same manner as an application for a Cer i tificate of Convenience and Neces sity. The proceedings upon such ap plication for a transfer shall be the same as those described for the issu ance of a Certificate, except that the question of public convenience and necessity need not be proved. Section 11. Revocation of Certifi cate or Drivers’ Permit. The Town Council may at any time I after public hearing revoke any Cer tificate or Drivers’ Permit by author ity of this ordinance for any one, or more, of the following causes: (a) Failure to operate the taxi cabs specified in the Certificate in such manner as to serve the public adequately and efficiently. (b) Failure to maintain motor equipment in good repair. (c) Failure to carry liability in surance or bond as required by Ordi nance. (d) Failure to pay to the Town taxes or license fees of SIO.OO im posed upon said taxicabs. * (e) Repeated and persistent vio lation by the taxicab drivers of traffic and safety ordinances, or state laws relating to alcoholic beverages or prostitution. (f) Failure to report accidents. (g) Willful failure to comply with any Drovision of this ordinance or other ordinances or state laws relat ' ing to the operation of taxicabs. j I (h) Failure to paint name and i I ’phone number in letters and figures t 1 not less than three (3) inches high < -of the owner of the taxicab on both .sides of each taxicab operated under] ( the Certificate. Also failure to paint number of each taxicab covered by t the Certificate on the rear of same in . a figure or figures not less than three j 1(3) inches high. In such instance, the liabil ity insurance or bonds shall also be transferred to such substitute vehicle or vehicles. Section 13. Certain Operators En titled to Certificate. . All persons operating taxicabs on April Ist. l!)4fi, shall be entitled to a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity for the number of taxi cabs operated by them on such date: Provided, however, any person oper ating a vehicle on that date whose right to operate a taxicab has been revoked or withdrawn, shall not be entitled to a Certificate unless and until provisions of this Ordinance have been complied with, and the same lias been issued by the Town Council. Section 14. Penalty. Every person, firm, corporation or partnership violating the provisions of this ordinance, or failing, neglect ing, or refusing to comply with its provisions, shall upon conviction be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall he subject to a fine not in excess of ss(l or imprisonment not in excess of thirty days.
