Edenton Aces Upset Franklin, Va., 26 To 0 Local Team Turns In Best Performance Os Season Playing the brand of football thal was expected of them all season, the Edenton Aces registered an upset Friday night when they trounced a highly favored Franklin High School team 26-0. The local boys played their best game in every respect, and by the victory evened up the count i»f three victories and three losses for the season. Aside from Franklin, the Aces have defeated Manteo and Windsor, while they dropped games to Greenville, Columbia and Hert ford. Franklin kicked to I open the game and Cates who rec eived the ball slipped it to Hollow -1 ell, who, running in the opposite dir ection, out-ran the Franklin boys and with several would-be tacklcrs taken out with perfect interference, crossed the pay dirt stripe untouched. Short ly afterward Edenton marched 611 yards and on a pass from Cates to Wheeler, the latter scored the sec-, ond touchdown. • Early in the fourth quarter Daven port recovered a Franklin fumble, ' and on three plays the third toueh down was scored on a pass from Cates to Wheeler. Again in this quarter Dick Hollowell thrilled the crowd when he intercepted a pass, tore loose from several Franklin ’ players and ran 71 yards for the final score of the game. Hollowell was easily the outstand ing star of the game, though Jack Habit and Jimmy Cates also played a bang-up game in the backfield. . The entire Edenton line turned in a splendid performance, yielding very , little ground and at one time held [the visitors for four downs on the | four-yard line.
