and high school football players, as
well as a few members of this year's
edition of the Edenton Aces.
I The Edenton team, which had
been practicing nightly for a week or
more, developed into a smooth-work
ing team and outplayed the visitors,
who had played two previous games.
I The greater portion of the game was!
played in Manteo territory, though;
the locals were not able to score un
til the second quarter. The Edenton ,
team secured possession of the hall
on the Manteo 45, from where lien
Askew dipped a pass to Tex' Lindsay
on a sleeping end play which netted
.'lO yards. Two more plays put the
1 hall: on the 0 yard line and Askew
again passed to Lindsay, who was in
the end zone for the first score of the!
. game. Try for extra point failed.
Moth teams plated on about even
terms dur-hig the remainder of the I
half.
j During the third quarter Nick
! George intercepted a Manteo pass
and chased about 25 yards before he
was. pulled dow n. With the ball on
the Manteo 8-yard line. Askew
smashed through the line for the sec
opd touchdown, but again the try for
i.extra point tailed.
The visitors near the end of the
game resorted to passing, but were,
ainb'.o to connect for a score.
