M. Proctor to teach it. Office Room Sought For Forestry Expert E. J. Sylvester, extension forester .for Chow’an, Bertie, Martin and Hert ford counties, attended a meeting of the Chowan County Board of Agri culture Friday night, at which time he spoke briefly concerning the du ties of his work. Mr. Sylvester is living in Edenton and at the County Commissioners’ meeting last week R. C. Holland and T. C. Byrum made a request for of fice space for Mr. Sylvester. With an office, it was explained that he ; would be able to render better ser vice to farmers. The Commissioners surveyed the possibilities of office space and are of the opinion that enough room is avail able in the welfare office. A. S. Hol lowell was instructed to contact Mrs. J. H. McMullan, superintendent of public welfare with a view to making arrangements for the office in the Citi zens Bank Building. C., THURSDAY, MAY 15, 1947. interesting: Program At Center Hill Meeting Eleven members of the Center Hill Home Demonstration club met May 7th at 3 o’clock with Mrs. Emmett P. Jones. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. J. T. White and the following program was given: “America the Beautiful”, Collect, part of the 6th chapter of Proverbs by Mrs. White, “The Love of Home” by Mrs. J. S. Turner, “Mother” by Mrs. Will Ashley, “Mother’s Love” by Miss Lillian Turner. Mrs. E. R. Meekins gave a short talk on Germany. The roll was call ed, minutes read and dues collected. Miss Rebecca Colwell then led a round of discussion on “Selecting and Using Necessary Farm and Home Equipment”. Discussions were most helpful and interesting especially the electric ice box, vacuum cleaner, washing machines, iroifs and electric mixers. Mrs. W. C. Francis led a bean throwing contest with Mrs. E. L. Belch winning the prize. The hostess served ice cream, cookies and salted nuts.
